Chartered Engineer's Certificate OR Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) is a Third Party Inspection service provided by independent inspection Agency
BMCL one of the authorized independent third party inspection agencies mandated to issue Chartered Engineer’s and Pre Shipment Inspection Certificates.
The nature and scope of the inspection performed varies depending upon the requirement of the Customs Authorities.
In the Indian Context the purpose of CE/ PSI Certification includes;
- Price Verification and Valuation to detect any over or under invoicing
- Customs Assistance Contracts, like verification of whether imported goods are in conformity with the customs classification as per the Indian Customs tariff code, Estimation of the Residual Life
- Specific Requirements - Besides the above purposes, PSI certification is mandatory for imports of metallic scrap and waste paper
